Your photo sits in pride of place
I gaze upon the soldier’s face
They screamed “Eyes right!” and there you froze
In standard, stiffened Army pose
I look into those eyes of grey
And wonder of your thoughts that day
Do I see steel or is it fear?
Can you see me standing here?
Mother says I have your strength
Although I question that at length
I can not find what she can see
I wish you were here to talk to me.
